Must Visit Stops Along the Ring of Kerry

With breathtaking views and quaint little towns, a trip around the Ring of Kerry is the ultimate scenic route.

The Red Fox Inn (Quaybaun, Co. Kerry, Ireland). Our tour director treated us to some Irish Coffee here, and it was a drink I’ll never forgot - it may have ruined all other coffee for me.

While you’re here, visit The Kerry Bog Village to experience a rural community from 19th century Ireland.

Kells Sheep Centre (Gleensk, Kells, Co. Kerry, V23 K023, Ireland). For only 5 euros, you can watch the most delightful Sheep-Dog demonstration. Not only do you see the border collies herd the sheep along the most enchanting hillside, but Brendan - the Shepherd - educates viewers on how he trains his dogs with different sound signals, using whistles and commands.

Before you leave, make sure to check out the stunning ocean view across the street.

The Thatch Cottage (Strandsend, Cahirciveen, Co. Kerry, Ireland). Grab a bite to eat at this cute roadside cottage. They’ve got a really nice selection of hot meals, cakes and pies. I went with the shepard’s pie (and I’d gladly order it again).

Waterville. Rocky shore inlet, colorful homes and green hills - I could’ve stayed in this seaside town all day. I love a good beach, and this one was so beautiful (my favorite stop of the day-trip).

Sheehan’s Point. A scenic lookout over Derrynane Bay. The hues of green and blue that I captured at this spot were unreal. They may also have a food/ice cream truck here, if you’re in need of a snack.

Ladies View. Located in Killarney National Park, this elevated viewpoint looks out over the Lakes of Killarney. This was one of the busier stops, but don’t let that stop you. They had live music here, and we also saw deer.
