Dog Friendly Restaurants in Kansas City

Kansas City isn’t just dog-friendly — they’re dog-positive. Many businesses actually encourage you to bring your pet along, by offering special treats, and often leave fresh bowls of water by their front door. Here are a few restaurants my Bichon, Clooney, has enjoyed going to.

Martin City Brewing Company Pizza + Taproom — Mission Farms, Overland Park

For the dogs: The Martin City patio is a small variation of wooden booths and high tops. It can fill up quick, so I’d recommend calling ahead. My dog loved laying in the wooden booth, and watching people inside through the window. There’s a barrier between the sidewalk and seating, so there’s very little distraction for your pup.

For you: While the inside is typically packed, and louder with sporting events onscreen, the outside seating is quiet and relaxed. I always switch up my variety of beer and pizza order — everything is good, you can’t go wrong.

District Pour House + Kitchen — Waldo, Kansas CIty

For the dogs: This spot has never been too full or busy outside, though I’ve often found other dogs enjoying their time on this covered patio during breakfast hours. The staff is very friendly with them, and will bring out a water dish. I’ve noticed fans and heating units on the ceiling, so I would assume this would be a great spot any time of year.

For you: Biscuits and gravy, or the salmon hash, have been my go-to orders — their bloody marys are also worth ordering. I’ve only been for weekend breakfasts, but the dinner menu also looks very good.

I’ll be adding more restaurants to this list, as I discover them. If you have a suggestion, or know of a place that should be added, let me know in the comments. My Bichon Frise, Clooney, and I are excited to uncover more dog-friendly places in the Kansas City area.
